IntroductionSenior lecturer to represent RCUK at US conference.
Dr Sabina Leonelli has been invited to be the Research Councils UK (RCUK) representative at the Arts& Humanities Research Council (AHRC)/National Science Foundation conference ‘Biomedical Humanities’ at the University of Maryland next week (10-12 April).
Sabina has been invited in particular to take part in the ‘Shared Horizons: Data, Biomedicine, and the Digital Humanities’ symposium. This will explore the intersections between biomedicine and humanities scholarship, asking the question, how might biomedical research methodologies influence humanities inquiry? And what interpretative processes might humanities scholarship share with biomedical research? As AHRC observer and commentator, Sabina will provide expert advice at the conference itself and later to RCUK about ways forward.
Last week Dr Leonelli gave the keynote lecture at the 5th Workshop in the Philosophy of Information, which took place at the University of Hertfordshire. Her talk was entitled ’What counts as good data in biology?’.
