Honour for Egenis alumnus

Introduction

Recognition for former PhD student from the American Philosophical Association.

Story

Dr Catherine (Katie) Kendig, who obtained her PhD after studying at Egenis, has been awarded the rare distinction of an Honorable Mention for the 2012 American Philosophical Association Article Prize.

The APA Article Prize is awarded to the best article published in the previous two years (in this instance 2010-2011). Apart from the winner, there were only two Honorable Mentions. Katie was commended for her article ‘Race as a Physiosocial Phenomenon’, published in History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences.

Potential prizewinners must be nominated by two APA members, and members may only nominate one article. The author must be a ‘young scholar’, that is, under 40.

Katie’s PhD thesis was entitled . She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Missouri Western State University.
