Introduction

Ruth McNally's co-authored text wins prestigious American Sociological Association award

Story

Congratulations are in order for Cesagen's Ruth McNally who has had her co-authored book 'The Truth Machine: The Contentious History of DNA Fingerprinting' selected by the Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis Section of the American Sociological Association (ASA) for its 2011 Distinguished Publication Award. The text written with Michael Lynch, Simon A. Cole and Kathleen Jordan traces the history of DNA fingerprinting by looking at court cases in the United States and United Kingdom beginning in the mid-1980s, when the practice was invented, and continuing until the present. It received widespread critical praise on its publication in 2009, culminating in this ASA award to be presented on 20 August 2011.
